Starting over.

There were future plans for a remodel, “after the kids went to college,” and like many others, this family had their plans fast forwarded with the Palisades fire in 2025. This home is a reflection of a desire for a calm and peaceful retreat integrated with a backyard garden room. In keeping with this minimalist direction, there is a very straightforward expression of plastered brick upper story over a non-combustible wood-like volume of the garage. Clean lines, open spaces, and a very deliberate decision not to close off the living room, but to combine living, eating, cooking and working. To accentuate this minimalism, the single selection of interior oak wood finishes will be matched across flooring, walls and cabinetry.

Anticipated start of construction is Fall 2026.
